Contestants: Open to all public and private high school students in the four-county area of Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties. Seniors will be eligible for an IRSC scholarship and have their work published in a peer-review, departmental journal. All other entries will be eligible for awards. Deadline: February 17, 2020 Categories: Each contestant will submit a sample of his/her writing on any subject in only one (1) of the following categories: (1) Short Story or (1) One-Act Play or (1-3) Poems. Short stories and plays must be within 2000 to 3000 words. Submissions: Mail entries to Professor Suchismita Banerjee, Indian River State College, English/Communications/Modern Languages Department, Room J-216, 3209 Virginia Avenue, Fort Pierce, FL 34981. Entries must be postmarked no later than February 17, 2020. Please mark the envelope "Creative Writing Contest." Format: All entires must be typed using 12 point Times New Roman or Arial font. Short stories and plays must be double-spaced with one-inch margins. Include a cover page with the following information:
Judges: Judges will be members of the Indian River State College English/Communications/Modern Languages Department. Additional Information: Seniors will be eligible for one of two IRSC scholarships if they choose to attend IRSC. All admission requirements for the established scholarship will apply.
